Following the Israeli regime’s attacks on several locations in Iran—including military bases, nuclear facilities, and residential areas—which resulted in the martyrdom of senior military commanders, esteemed scientists, and many innocent civilians, including women and children, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kingdom of Sweden condemns these horrific and unjustifiable attacks in the strongest possible terms. We emphasize that the attacks carried out by the Israeli regime are clearly a declaration of war and a flagrant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as an obvious violation of the UN Charter and international law regarding the protection of nuclear facilities. It must be noted that the Israeli regime launched these attacks while indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States were ongoing. These attacks were clearly aimed at derailing diplomacy and sabotaging the negotiation process. The United Nations and its member states must hold the Israeli regime accountable in order to fulfill their obligations under the UN Charter—the very charter that has been shredded by the regime’s envoy to the UN. The same UN whose Secretary-General was declared persona non grata, whose staff were killed while on mission, and whose judges were sanctioned by the Israeli regime. We reaffirm the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and we pledge our unwavering commitment to defending the dignity, security, and sovereignty of our country using all national capacities. We expect all sovereign states to explicitly condemn such violations of international law, human rights, and basic moral principles. We urge the Kingdom of Sweden—its officials, political parties, Riksdag members, judicial system, scientific and cultural communities, public figures, theorists, analysts, journalists, fellow Iranians residing in Sweden, and, ultimately, every human being with sound reason and a belief in basic moral values—to publicly denounce the horrific crimes of this bloodthirsty regime, to condemn their attacks and to help bring an end to its impunity.   The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kingdom of Sweden 6/15/2025
